My Story

I’m James Krider, MD, a family physician who found his second calling in the world of stocks. I’ve practiced medicine for over 40 years and developed strong ties with all my patients. And while medicine might not seem related to stocks, the rigor, discipline, and empathy I’ve learned in healthcare have been instrumental in my trading journey.

In 2008, I started trading stocks amidst the Great Recession. I knew learning was crucial to avoid being part of the 70% of new stock traders that, according to the SEC, lose money within their first year. I invested time and money in several teaching organizations. The financial crisis provided a real-world classroom that no course could match.

Over time, I expanded my trading repertoire to day trading, swing trading, long-term trading, forex, and options. However, my true passion lies in options trading. My approach to options trading was meticulous and rigorous, involving exhaustive analysis to ascertain real win percentages for weekly options.

In 2016, I became a licensed investment advisor and, the following year, launched Krider Wealth Management, a testament to my commitment and dedication to the world of finance. I even became a speaker at the Money Show. I also provided free advice on the internet and Facebook, wanting to help others on their financial journeys.

Despite the successes, the bear market in December 2021 was a stark reminder of the unpredictable nature of the markets. The Federal Reserve’s decision to end its pandemic-era stimulus resulted in a market collapse, causing a significant loss for me. This event inspired a reevaluation of my strategies and led me to add statistical packages like IBM’s SPSS to my programming.

I tried everything, from linear regression to machine learning, to create a predictive model for the market. However, the Efficient Market Hypothesis stood firm. Predicting the market with an equation proved futile. But a year of attempts led me to a crucial realization – the power of decision trees. Although not foolproof, decision trees provided a probabilistic edge that complemented the price discount obtained from selling PUT options.

Yet, the events of 2021 highlighted a crucial element that needed to be mastered – money management. I revisited everything from my early trading years, including the Risk-Reward Ratio and teachings from Van Tharp. I studied and tested strategies like Position Sizing, Risk-Reward Ratio, Dollar Cost Averaging, Martingale/Anti-Martingale strategies, Pyramid Strategy, Risk Parity, and the Kelly Criterion. However, none fully addressed the problem.

Reflecting on the limitations of Dollar Cost Averaging, a popular method frequently mentioned in mainstream media, I took a unique approach. I decided to treat each addition to a position as a separate trade. This innovative approach allowed for a refresh of capital and led to the development of my proprietary EDTL system of money management.

This system became my guard against market volatility. It accounted for multiple variables and offered a strategic plan for any scenario, whether to take profits or buy more when the market goes against me. With EDTL, I could determine the maximum number of shares to sell based on my capital, giving me the resilience to weather any market storm.

In 2023, I transformed my learnings into a comprehensive trading tool – Probability Trader Pro. I now offer a FREE portfolio and option management spreadsheet, aiming to help other traders avoid unnecessary losses. While I charge a small fee for the weekly data updates, I provide a weekly newsletter, ongoing research results, and daily options entries. My goal is to help you succeed, drawing from my journey’s wisdom.

Welcome to Probability Trader Pro, and I look forward to sharing my experience, strategy, and tools to support you on your trading journey.
